Dunn-Edwards Ultra-Grip Premium: What I Spot-Prime With, and Why It Has Never Failed Me

Dunn-Edwards ULTRA-GRIP® Premium

Multi-purpose bonding primer

Product code UGPR00

Ultra-Grip Premium is a multi-surface bonding primer. I use it for spot priming rather than coating a whole house, and in twenty years of exterior work in Phoenix I have never had it fail.

Ultra-Grip is a multi-surface primer, so I would feel comfortable using it on almost any surface. In practice I use it for spot priming rather than coating a whole house. When we replace fascia boards, the new wood gets EZ-Prime on all six sides. Ultra-Grip is what comes out for the spots.

I have never had Ultra-Grip fail. That is not a small thing to be able to say about a bonding primer, because a bonding primer only gets used on the surfaces where an ordinary primer would not have held in the first place.

It is also made in a Select grade, which is slightly lower quality for a slightly lower price. I have used both and I buy the Premium.
